How much are contacts for astigmatism?

Paying cash, a year of daily contacts for astigmatism (toric lenses) in 90-packs for both eyes cost about $851 to $1,166 at Eyeconic and ContactsDirect on September 28, 2026. The regular (spherical) version of the same brands cost about $627 to $979. Monthly torics cost about $242 to $367 a year, compared with $178 to $324 for regular monthlies. Toric lenses cost more per box, and some come only in smaller boxes, which pushes the year cost higher still.

Same brand, same box size, the toric version cost $43 to $230 more per year for both eyes. The biggest jumps come from pack size, not the lens.

Why toric lenses cost more

Two reasons show up in the prices:

  • Higher price per box. A 90-pack of MyDay Toric was $125.99 on an annual supply at Eyeconic. Regular MyDay was $106.19.
  • Smaller boxes. Some toric lenses come in fewer sizes. We found Acuvue Oasys MAX 1-Day for Astigmatism only in 30-packs at both retailers, while the regular version comes in 90-packs. A year of 30-packs is 24 boxes, and each lens costs more.

You know you need toric lenses if your contact lens prescription lists CYL and AXIS. What those numbers mean is in how to read your contact prescription.

Year cost by brand, spherical vs toric

Prices at Eyeconic (VSP's online store), checked September 28, 2026. Price per box is the annual supply price. Boxes per year covers both eyes: eight 90-packs for dailies, four 6-packs for monthlies, eight 6-packs or two 24-packs for two-week lenses, 24 thirty-packs for dailies in 30-packs.

How much more toric costs per year, at two retailers

The same pairs at ContactsDirect, checked the same day, show a similar gap. Extra per year is the toric year cost minus the spherical year cost, both eyes, at annual supply prices.

Brand pair Spherical box Toric box Extra per year at Eyeconic Extra per year at ContactsDirect
Acuvue Oasys 1-Day 90 90 $230.40 $219.04
Dailies Total1 90 90 $172.80 $185.04
Dailies AquaComfort Plus 90 90 $144.00 $160.00
MyDay 90 90 $158.40 $120.00

Acuvue Oasys (two-week) 24 6 $197.94 $158.94
Acuvue Oasys MAX 1-Day 90 30 $727.04 $359.76

The last two rows compare different box sizes, because the toric version was not offered in the bigger box. That is where the gap gets widest.

Pack size matters as much as the lens

The same toric lens can cost very different amounts per year depending on the box:

  • Acuvue Oasys 1-Day for Astigmatism at Eyeconic: $1,166.32 a year in 90-packs, $2,159.76 in 30-packs.
  • Regular Acuvue Oasys MAX 1-Day at Eyeconic: $1,108.72 a year in 90-packs, $1,598.16 in 30-packs.

Buying a full year at once also changes the price. Both retailers price boxes lower on an annual supply. Whether a year's supply makes sense for you is covered in is a year supply of contacts worth it.

The exam and fitting can cost more too

A toric fitting can cost more than a regular one. A Visionworks office in Phoenix lists a spherical contact lens fitting at $70 and a toric fitting at $90 for cash-pay patients, on top of an $89 eye exam. See how much is a contact lens exam without insurance.

Your prescription names the lens

Under the federal Contact Lens Rule, "a seller may not alter a contact lens prescription." If your prescription names a toric lens, a seller cannot swap in a different brand. To switch brands or lens types, ask your eye doctor.
